You can upgrade your Negev experience a great deal if you sleep at a secluded location instead of a hotel in one of the towns. Read our guide for the best spots!
There are two recommended towns to sleep in that are centrally located between the Negev attractions and hikes. Both of them have a good selection of accommodations and a few dining options.
Midreshet Ben-Gurion has an excellent location right in the center of the Negev. It is a pleasant settlement with a population of about 2000 people. Accommodation options are a hostel and a bunch of B&B’s in a variety of levels. There are two small restaurants (Pizzeria and a delicious Sandwich Bar) and a grocery store.
Mitspe Ramon is located a bit south of the center (Compared to Midreshet Ben Gurion). It is a small town with a population of about 10,000 people. Accommodation options have a wide diversity. You can spoil yourself in one of the most luxurious hotels in the country, the Bereshit Hotel. Besides the luxury, you will get a fantastic view of the Makhtesh directly from your private balcony. On the other side of the spectrum, several hostels offer dormitories and modest private rooms. Besides, you can find many options in between. There is a decent selection of dining and a big supermarket.
However, If you want peace and to soak yourself in the desert atmosphere, there a few Chalets (B&Bs) isolated far from any settlement. Some are luxurious, and some are very simple. The downside is the lack of a grocery store and dining options. We have rounded up some of the best options.
